In the fall, I had the opportunity to teach tap masterclasses at the Miami Valley Dance Teacher Association Convention held in Dayton. I did a half hour warm up with the seniors at the start of the day. Taylor Swift's album had just released so, of course, I had to include her in my stretching playlist. The kiddos loved it! Then I taught a senior class, a minis class and to finish the day, a juniors class.
It was my first time teaching outside of a studio setting so I was very nervous. I was worried about the combinations being too hard or too easy for each of the levels. It all worked out in the end. I felt like they were challenging without being impossible to learn within an hour. I loved getting to teach my style to a whole new group of kids and be able to be a part of all of their dance journeys. It was a very cool experience and I hope I get to do something like it again.
