A Brief History of Amy

Digital Marketing Specialist & Performer

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where my dream was to become a Ben-Gal cheerleader. At the time I was not in dance lessons and wouldn't be for several years so I'm not sure where that came from. However, after failing at many sports, my mom decided to put me in a summer dance camp. I loved it so much and my mom saw the spark in me too. I got signed up for dance lessons and the rest is history. I eventually joined my studio's dance team which led me to audition for my high school's musicals which led me to join show choir and women's choir and all of a sudden my whole life was the performing arts.

I decided to major in Dance and Arts Management at Oklahoma City University. While I progressed my dance and vocal techniques in college, I also learned about administrative arts jobs, working in nonprofits, creating sets and lighting design, simulating opening a dance studio, stage management, company management and all sorts of jobs in the performing arts. I was lucky enough to graduate in the middle of the pandemic. Things were a little slow in the industry so I decided to move home after my virtual graduation.

This led me to begin a fulfilling performance career in Cincinnati. I started teaching and choreographing at my old dance studio. I was over the moon to get my first performance job in a parade at Kings Island. That job led to becoming a regular there. For three consecutive seasons, I was hired in a variety of shows. The people there are so talented, every show I felt like I became a better performer by being able to watch my cast-mates. On top of that, I was able to judge dance competitions in cities near Cincinnati and choreograph at local high schools.

I had always wanted to branch out in my career more. After many auditions, I was hired by Universal Orlando to perform in one of my dream shows there. I now reside mostly in Orlando, although I am able to travel to Cincinnati often. It has been so fulfilling to get to see more of the performance world and get to be part of it.

Being a part of this industry has come with a lot of sacrifice. It's created some of my best memories, but there are many other things I have put aside in order to pursue this. So as I looked towards my future I thought about where I want my life trajectory to go. Thinking back to my time in college, the parts of projects and my capstone that I enjoyed the most was the marketing sections. So I ran with that and started digging in more. I enrolled in a digital marketing class, started listening to social media podcasts, and becoming more familiar with the programs needed for creating content. I reached out to my studio and started creating content for them and also started working on passion projects to really start honing my craft. I also realized a lot of the skills I wanted to keep learning, I had already been working on as a performer. As a performer I had to learn how to edit videos in imovie, edit songs in garageband, create and maintain my own website, have a social media presence for casting directors. As a performer, you have to learn how to market yourself! So now I'm just moving on to market other people and brands! Please take a look around my website to see what I've been up to!
